Did you ever dream of having your car built to your own specifications, with a design specially made just for you? Of writing history, rather than satisfying yourself with production items or being a custodian for past glories? Of being treated like King Leopold III of Belgium, Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman, Gianni Agnelli, or the Sultan of Bruneï, when they came to visit Pininfarina?

Pininfarina needs no introduction and has a long tradition of building one-offs. The Carrozzeria was created in 1930 in Torino by Battista 'Pinin' Farina and soon became a leading coachbuilder, crafting 'haute couture' bodies to the order of the famous and the wealthy of this world. Over the years, the industrial development of the carrozzeria, their 'prêt-à-porter' activities, took over the limelight.

Following the evolution of the automobile industry and having adapted to its needs, the company became a centre of design and engineering, sided with an assembly plant capable of producing over 100,000 cars per year. Its economical significance is underlined by its presence on the Italian stock market.

Now headed by the third generation of the family, it never lost track of its roots however and the special projects activity, to which very talented designers, engineers, and the most skilled crafters, are dedicated, is given their highest attention.

The range of possibilities is broad. Interested parties may commission a full one-off development, or ask to transform an existing coupe into a shooting brake or a spyder, or simply wish to upgrade an interior with the latest comfort amenities and technological devices.

Why come to Pininfarina? Because, whatever the nature of the project, you will buy timeless elegance, high technology - wasn't Pininfarina the first to invest in an aerodynamic tunnel back in 1972? - and the best name in the business.

Most one-offs are based on Ferraris, Bentleys and Rolls-Royces. This list is in no way restrictive though, and commissions on BMWs, Maseratis and Mercedes-Benz, to name just three others, are welcome.

Christian Philippsen is honoured to have been officially appointed a marketing consultant by Pininfarina to assist the Special Projects department, headed by engineer Paolo Garella. Should you wish to explore the possibilities of making your own dream come true, we shall be delighted to guide you and introduce you to this unique world.
